Press Release
- November 2006 - Duplex filters save downtime at Peter's
Food Services

Peter's
Food Services recently contacted Axium Process
to see if they could provide a solution to the constant
blocking of the fine spray nozzles which apply
glaze to their range of baked pies and sausage rolls
on the browning lines. Axium Process installed
a pilot filter system in one of the lines enabling Peter's Food
engineers to monitor and alter the filtration level. The
trial was a success in that it allowed uninterrupted
operation thus dramatically reducing costly downtime.
Peter's Foods removed the existing standard wire
mesh filters to the lines and installed eight Compact
Duplex Pure-Screen100 filter systems custom built to
suit their application.
Axium
Process’ Pure-Screen wedge wire stainless steel filters
are easy to maintain, have no moving parts and require
no tools for access or cleaning. The filters, which
are of a particularly robust design, can be fabricated
to customer specification and includes duplex, multiplex
and jacketed filter options.
Standard
filter options include a 90 °, in-line or straight through
design as well as the Pure-Screen Compact filter which
is designed for use in confined areas or where flow
rates are low. Sample valves or vent valves can be
integrated into any of the options as can isolation
or back flush valves if required.
The
company has also introduced a low cost perforated sheet
strainer which is designed as a low pressure drop ‘last
chance’ filter. It can be used as a simple coarse
filter or as a means of protecting pumps and instruments.
